titleOfInvention Tempered martensitic rail with excellent wear resistance and method of manufacturing the same
abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] In a tempered martensitic structure in which a large amount of carbide is finely dispersed in a steel having a carbon content of a certain value or more, the size and occupied area of the carbide in the structure are within a certain range. By controlling, the wear resistance of the rail is improved, and at the same time, the surface damage resistance required for the rail steel is secured. As a result, a high-strength rail with improved wear resistance required for heavy-load railways is provided at low cost. SOLUTION: The steel rail contains, by mass%, C: 0.85 to 2.00%, and at least a part of the rail head has a tempered martensitic structure, and has an arbitrary cross section of the martensitic structure. In, the major axis is 100 ~ A tempered martensitic rail excellent in wear resistance, characterized in that the total area occupied by carbides having a range of 1000 nm is 20 to 80% of the area of the arbitrary cross section.
