abstract (57) Abstract: The present invention provides a novel ruthenium-optically active phosphine complex mixture useful as a catalyst for an organic synthesis reaction. This mixture is a particularly useful asymmetric hydrogenation catalyst for the production of optically active 4-methyl-2-oxetanone. SOLUTION: The following formulas (1), (2) and (3), [Ru (R 1 -SEGPHOS) (sol) 4 ] I 2 ... (1) [Ru (R 1 -SEGPHOS) (sol ) 4 ] I (anion) ・ ・ ・ (2) [RuI (R 1 -SEGPHOS) (sol) 3 ] (anion) ・ ・ ・ (3) 中 wherein sol is a nitrile solvent and R 1- SEGPHOS is given by equation (4) (Here, R 1 has a substituent selected from the group consisting of a lower alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a lower alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a lower alkylamino group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and a halogen atom. Represents an aryl group or a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms which may be optionally present), and anion represents a perfluoroalkylsulfonyl anion. A mixture of ruthenium and an optically active phosphine complex, characterized by containing a complex of the above, a process for producing the same, and an asymmetric hydrogenation catalyst comprising the mixture.
