abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous film capable of easily and inexpensively obtaining a desired porous structure with a small decrease in physical properties such as strength, and obtaining a uniform and stable surface modification effect. A separator using the same is provided. SOLUTION: The porous film contains 0.05 to 5 parts by weight of a hydrophilic modifier having a molecular weight of 1000 or less by internal addition to 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin as a porous base material.
