abstract | (57) [Summary] [Problem] In a mixing stirrer, a nickel hydroxide surface is coated with nickel hydroxide in a single step, and alkali heating treatment is performed in an oxidizing atmosphere to produce high-order cobalt oxide-coated nickel hydroxide particles. An object of the present invention is to synthesize a positive electrode active material for an alkaline storage battery having improved high-capacity discharge characteristics and cycle characteristics. . SOLUTION: In a mixing stirrer, the surface of nickel hydroxide is coated with a cobalt compound, converted into cobalt hydroxide with an alkaline aqueous solution, and subsequently alkali-heated under an oxidizing atmosphere while adding an alkaline aqueous solution to obtain nickel hydroxide. In this method, particles are formed in which cobalt oxide is uniformly adhered to the surface to suppress coagulation of the particles and produce surface-modified nickel hydroxide coated with highly active high-order cobalt oxide. |
