(57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] A characteristic feature is that a substance such as an isomer, which cannot be identified by conventional mass spectrometry, can be identified by using charged inversion mass spectrometry. SOLUTION: A positive ion of an isomer is generated by an ion source, the positive ion is introduced into a collision chamber filled with an alkali metal target, and a negative ion dissociated from the isomer by collision with an alkali metal vapor is generated. By measuring the mass spectrum of this negative ion by charge reversal and detecting the presence of the isomer, it has become possible to detect the isomer which could not be detected by the conventional CID method. |
