titleOfInvention Process for producing (R) -4-cyano-3-hydroxybutyric acid lower alkyl ester
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce (R) -4-cyano-3-hydroxybutyric acid lower alkyl ester by cyanation of (S) -4-halogeno-3-hydroxybutyric acid lower alkyl ester, Provision of a process which can be obtained in higher yield. SOLUTION: (S) -4-Halogeno-3-hydroxybutyric acid lower alkyl ester is subjected to a cyanation reaction in the presence of an aqueous solvent to produce (R) -4-cyano-3-hydroxybutyric acid lower alkyl ester. In particular, after the cyanation reaction, Further, the pH of the reaction product solution is adjusted to 3.0 to 6.0 by adding an acid.
