titleOfInvention | Animal cell line in which prion gene is modified to be non-functional and its use |
abstract | (57) [Problem] To provide a method for removing a prion disease pathogen from a virus vaccine and a method for detecting an abnormal prion gene in a mammal. SOLUTION: A mammalian cell line which is grown in a serum-containing medium but undergoes apoptosis in a serum-free medium, has a prion gene deleted or is mutated to be non-functional, and this cell line is cultured. A method for propagating a virus for vaccines comprising recovering a virus that has been infected and propagated with a virus for vaccines, and an anti-viral vaccine comprising attenuating or inactivating the virus as necessary and mixing with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. A method for producing, and a method for detecting an abnormal mammalian prion gene based on apoptosis or proliferation by culturing a transformant obtained by introducing the prion gene into the above-described cell line in a serum-free medium. |
