abstract (57) [Problem] To solve the problems of the conventional catalysts, that is, the unsatisfactory hydrogenation rate and the need for a large amount of titanium. SOLUTION: The catalyst composition produced by the reaction of the following components (A) and (B), which is effective for hydrogenating an olefin double bond. (A) at least one cyclopentadienyl transition metal complex having the following formula (I): Formula (I) (R) (R 1 ) M 1 (R 2 ) (R 3 ) wherein R is an anion containing an η 5 -cyclopentadienyl ring coordinated to M 1 , M 1 is selected from titanium, zirconium and hafnium, R 2 and R 3 are the same or different and are an organic or inorganic anionic group bonded to M 1 , and R 1 is cyclopentadienyl is selected from R 2) (B) alkylation composition consisting essentially following components (b1) and (b2). (B1) Formula (II): M 2 (R 4 ) (R 5 ) (wherein, M 2 is selected from Zn and Mg). (B2) An organic derivative of aluminum having the general formula (III) Al (R 6 ) 3 .
