abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a reaction mother liquor from a reaction mother liquor slurry of an aromatic carboxylic acid by a simple process, to return the reaction mother liquor with less water contamination to the reactor, and to mix the reaction mother liquor. The present invention proposes a method for producing an aromatic carboxylic acid capable of sending a water slurry having a low content to a purification step. SOLUTION: When oxidizing an alkyl aromatic compound in an aliphatic carboxylic acid solvent in a reactor 1 to produce an aromatic carboxylic acid, a slurry L3 containing crystals of the aromatic carboxylic acid is extracted from the reactor 1; The para-xylene L9 is supplied to the multi-stage column 7 and settled, while flowing para-xylene L9 in an upward flow to replace the reaction mother liquor, the reaction mother liquor and para-xylene are returned to the reactor 1, and the precipitated crystals enter from L6 and L7. Dispersed in water to form a water slurry and sent to the purification process. |
