PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for producing a mixture containing a glycine betaine alkyl ester which imparts good flexibility, smoothness and oiliness to hair. SOLUTION: After reacting a specific monohalogen carboxylic acid alkyl ester with a specific tertiary amine using a specific long-chain alcohol as a reaction solvent to obtain a specific glycine betaine alkyl ester, an excess of the tertiary glycine betaine alkyl ester is obtained. The secondary amine is removed to obtain a mixture containing the long-chain alcohol and the glycine betaine alkyl ester. |
