PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ionic compound useful as an olefin polymerization catalyst and an industrially advantageous olefin polymerization catalyst which is highly active without adhering to a reactor wall and which is industrially advantageous. SOLUTION: The following general formula: [R 1 to R 3 are a hydrogen atom and the like, R 4 to R 12 are a hydrogen atom and a halogen atom, and X and Y are an alkylene group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an arylene group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, a silylene group, a germylene. Z represents an onium compound such as a group. k and l represent 1 or 0, and k + 1 ≧ 1. An olefin polymerization catalyst comprising an ionic compound represented by the formula (I), a transition metal compound belonging to Groups 8 to 10 of the periodic table, and organoaluminum. |
