abstract An optical component based on a semiconductor optical amplifier having a small number of independent electrodes is provided. The component comprises separate regions (1,2,3,4,4) with the same vertical structure in which an active waveguide (20) is embedded between an upper buffer layer and a lower buffer layer. 5). Each of these regions, in order to inject a current density of equal or different values, and a lower electrode and an upper electrode (10, E 2, E 4 ). This component is characterized in that at least one of the electrodes (10) covers several regions (1, 3, 5) and has a distributed resistivity adjusted according to the region under consideration. .
