abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-4-oxo-3-piperidinecarboxylic acid ester easily, To provide a method that can be manufactured with high yield. SOLUTION: Formula (2): (R represents an alkyl group) 3,3'-iminodipropionate is reacted with di-tert-butyl dicarbonate to give a compound of formula (1): (R is the same as above) to produce N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-3,3'-iminodipropionate, and then prepare the N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-3,3 '. -Iminodipropionate is reacted in the presence of a base to give a compound of formula (3): (R is the same as above) to produce N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-4-oxo-3-piperidinecarboxylic acid ester.
