abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oil-based dispersion of titanium oxide and lipophilic titanium oxide powder having excellent dispersibility in oily materials, exhibiting photochromic properties, etc., and applicable in a wide range of fields, and for various purposes. The present invention provides a method for producing the oily dispersion and the lipophilic titanium oxide powder, the shape and properties of which are easily controlled. Further, a cosmetic composition which is excellent in use feeling and transparency and which gives a good finish feeling and which is also excellent in an ultraviolet protection effect is obtained. SOLUTION: When a hydrolysis reaction proceeds in a titanium alkoxide or an oily solution or dispersion thereof, an atom having a lone electron pair in a molecule and / or a titanium oxide particle grows from the titanium alkoxide. Alternatively, by adding an appropriate amount of an organic compound having a polar group, titanium oxide particles well dispersed in an oily dispersion medium are obtained. Further, by removing the dispersion medium from the oil-based dispersion of titanium oxide and then drying, a lipophilic titanium oxide powder is obtained. |
