SOLUTION: In a rechargeable non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a positive electrode capable of doping / dedoping lithium ions, a non-aqueous electrolyte and a negative electrode, the negative electrode active material is (a) flaky graphite particles. And (b) a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a carbon material containing at least two types of graphite materials, the surfaces of which are coated with amorphous carbon and are not scaly.
