abstract | (57) Abstract: Provided is a method for suppressing the side reaction and efficiently producing a polycarbonate having an improved hue with less branching. When a polycarbonate is produced by a transesterification reaction between a dihydroxy compound and a carbonic acid diester, the total amount of the alkali metal compound and the alkaline earth metal compound contained as impurities in the dihydroxy compound and the carbonic acid diester is 1 mol of the dihydroxy compound. On the other hand, a dihydroxy compound and a carbonic acid diester in amounts of 1 × 10 −7 mol or less are used as raw materials, and an alkali metal phosphite is used as a catalyst. |
