abstract |
[PROBLEMS] To provide an associative thickener composition comprising a urethane / urea polymer containing at least two low molecular weight hydrophobic groups, at least one of which is a terminal. The polymer can include one or more internal hydrophobic groups. The terminal hydrophobic groups are separated by a polymer chain by a hydrophobic spacer moiety linked to the polymer chain by a urea or urethane bond. The polymer is prepared by the reaction of a prepolymer formed by the reaction of a hydrophobic diol or alkoxy based amine with a diisocyanate and an alkoxylated amine substituted hydrophobic group. |
