abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an olefin polymer which can be produced efficiently and inexpensively without using a highly dangerous methylaluminoxane and reducing the amount of an organic metal compound used. A product obtained by contacting (A) a clay, a clay mineral or an ion-exchangeable layered compound (B) with an organosilane compound and (C) water is mixed with (D) a group 4 to 6 or 8 of the periodic table.
