titleOfInvention A method for decomposing phenolic substances with ozone, characterized by reacting ozone in the presence of a nonyl-phenol catalyst.
abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To provide a method for decomposing and removing hardly decomposable substances which are harmful components in water by diffusing ozone into treated water. SOLUTION: In a purification process of treated water, ozone is reacted in the presence of a catalyst composed of nonylphenol. One or both of lower alcohol and acetone are added to the catalyst. Ozone is diffused into the treated water in the presence of chlorine. Para-nonyl phenol is used as nonyl phenol. As nonyl phenol, those which mainly detect two molecules of molecular weight 220 and molecular weight 107 by gas chromatography and mass spectrum measurement are used.
