abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition which is one-pack type, has good storability, can be cured in a short time at a low temperature, and a method for forming a coating film thereof. SOLUTION: (A) a melamine resin-containing paint containing a mixture of a melamine resin or a melamine resin and at least one resin selected from the group consisting of an acrylic resin, a polyester resin and an alkyd resin, (C) an activity obtained by blending a photo-cationic polymerization initiator that generates a Bronsted acid or a Lewis acid by a ray and (C) an acid proliferating agent that newly generates an acid using the acid generated by the photo-cationic polymerization initiator as a catalyst An energy ray-irradiated thermosetting coating composition; and a coating film comprising applying the active energy ray-irradiating thermosetting coating composition to a substrate surface, irradiating with an active energy ray, and then heating and curing the composition. A method of forming is provided.
