PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for preparing a metallocene for olefin polymerization, which exhibits high productivity and high selectivity and is carried out "in situ". SOLUTION: (a) Group 4 transition metal halide and 1, Contacting with an organometallic compound of group 2 or 13 to produce a transition metal halide having a valence less than 1, (b) purifying the transition metal halide obtained in (a), and (c) (b) Contacting the transition metal halide having a valence less than that obtained in the above with a fulvene compound to obtain a metallocene. |
