abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To provide high-density, low-bleed printing without causing nozzle clogging, and to greatly improve the water resistance and washing resistance of the obtained printed matter. I do. SOLUTION: A component (C), preferably oxazoline, which crosslinks the resin (A) in an aqueous medium comprising at least water and pigmented resin particles contained in the resin (A) having a carboxyl group, and a base (B). An aqueous ink composition containing a polymer (D) having a group. An image forming method in which, after printing using the aqueous ink composition, crosslinking is performed by applying heat energy or generating heat from inside. After printing using the aqueous ink, maintenance is performed using a maintenance liquid composed of an aqueous medium having a pH of 8 to 11.
