abstract | (57) [Problem] To provide a sintered nickel electrode for an alkaline storage battery having excellent energy density, high temperature characteristics and operating voltage with a small amount of cobalt. A first step of immersing a sintered substrate in a mixed salt solution of nickel and cobalt and then performing an alkali treatment to form a nickel-cobalt solid solution hydroxide layer on the surface of the sintered substrate; A second step of heating the bonded substrate in the presence of an aqueous alkali solution and oxygen and a third step of filling nickel hydroxide containing cobalt into pores of the sintered substrate are provided. Then, the amount of cobalt generated in the first step is 65% by weight or more and 85% by weight or more of the amount of cobalt contained in the entire active material. And the total amount of cobalt in the active material is 10 wt% or more of the total amount of nickel in the active material. It is specified to be less than% by weight. |
