How to recycle spent oxide fuel |
abstract |
(57) [Summary] [Problem] To separate and recover uranium from precious metals, and to reduce the contamination of rare earth fission products into plutonium, whereby the recovered uranium and plutonium can be recovered from fast reactors and light water reactor cores. Provided is a method that can be reused as fuel and realize a more flexible nuclear fuel cycle. A method for separating and recovering nuclear material from fission products by reprocessing spent oxide fuel removed from a nuclear reactor, and using the recovered nuclear fuel as nuclear fuel again. Disassembling the spent oxide fuel and shearing the fuel element; and storing the sheared fuel element in the first reaction vessel in the first reaction vessel and reducing it to metal with lithium in a molten salt in the step. The metal reduced in this step is transferred to a second reaction vessel and anodically dissolved in a molten salt having a high oxidizing concentration, whereby plutonium is precipitated as an oxide and uranium is recovered as an oxide at the cathode. And a step. |
