abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy and inexpensive molecular weight and a wide variety of vinyl monomers including polar vinyl monomers such as (meth) acrylic acid monomers. It is an object of the present invention to provide a composition containing a polymer having a hydroxyl group at a terminal whose molecular weight distribution is controlled and having good toughness, weather resistance, heat resistance, water resistance and the like, and its use. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a vinyl polymer having a hydroxyl group at a terminal produced by living radical polymerization (I). And a compound (II) having two or more functional groups capable of reacting with a hydroxyl group in one molecule. This living radical polymerization is preferably an atom transfer radical polymerization. Further, the polymer (I) has a feature that the molecular weight distribution is narrow. The composition of the present invention can be used for a wide range of applications such as pressure-sensitive adhesives and sealants. |
