abstract (57) [Summary] [Problem] To provide a gene diagnostic method for measuring gene mutation in humans, predicting bone density from the results, and easily predicting the risk of developing a bone disease, for example, osteoporosis. Kind Code: A1 In a region containing a gene at position 677 of DNA encoding methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, a gene V cleaved by the restriction enzyme HinfI and a gene A not cleaved at the same site are detected, and a combination of these genes is detected. Among the polymorphisms AA, AV or VV determined in the above, a method for predicting bone density for determining the polymorphism VV as having low bone density, a method for predicting the risk of developing a bone disease from the predicted bone density, and Gene polymorphism detection reagent kit for bone density prediction.
