titleOfInvention Modification of thermoplastic vulcanizates using random propylene copolymers.
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a thermoplastic vulcanizate substantially different in properties such as elongation at break and toughness from a thermoplastic vulcanizate modified with a conventional Ziegler-Natta propylene copolymer. . As the elongation at break increases, articles made from thermoplastic vulcanizates exhibit high elongation. SOLUTION: A random propylene thermoplastic copolymer can be used to increase the thermal elongation at break and toughness of a thermoplastic vulcanizate. Semi-crystalline polypropylene is preferably the plastic phase. The rubber is an olefinic rubber. Random thermoplastic polypropylene copolymers differ from conventional Ziegler-Natta propylene copolymers because the compositional heterogeneity of the copolymer is greater than the Ziegler-Natta copolymer.
