(57) Abstract: Dehydrogenation of a mixture of o-ethyldiphenylalkane and m-ethyldiphenylalkane to dehydrogenate high-purity m-ethyldiphenylalkane containing no compound derived from o-ethyldiphenylalkane. A method for easily producing a compound is provided. SOLUTION: A mixture of any one of the hydrocarbons represented by the following general formula (1) and any one of the hydrocarbons represented by the following general formula (2): Is dehydrogenated or oxidatively dehydrogenated and distilled to selectively produce a monoolefin hydrocarbon and / or a diolefin hydrocarbon represented by the general formula (3).
