abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production apparatus and a production method capable of producing a silver halide emulsion which is excellent in controllability of a grain size and an aspect ratio and which can produce a highly sensitive silver halide emulsion. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for producing a silver halide emulsion, 90% or more of the total projected area of the silver halide grains contained in the silver halide emulsion is tabular silver halide grains having an aspect ratio of 2 or more. An apparatus and a method for producing a silver halide emulsion, comprising means for arbitrarily controlling the emulsion volume in a reaction vessel from a minimum stirring volume to a maximum capacity of the vessel at any time during the growth of silver halide grains.
