titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF MONO- AND DI-SULPHONYL ALCHYLIC AND ARYACHYLIC CHLORIDES
abstract A process is described for the preparation of mono- and di-sulphonyl alkyl and arylachyl chlorides by treatment of a diester of the tritiocarbon acid of formula (II) or (III), dissolved or suspended in a mixture consisting of water and at least an organic solvent, with chlorine gas, at 0 ° - + 10 ° C and for 30-120 minutes, or, in the case of a diester of formula (II), by pretreatment with an alkanesulfonic acid ester or a dialkyl sulfate or a alkyl halide in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid alone or in a mixture with trifluoroacetic anhydride, at a temperature between 50 ° and 100 ° C and for 1-5 hours, followed by treatment with chlorine gas in the presence of water, at a temperature between 0 ° and + 10 ° C and for 30-120 minutes.
