titleOfInvention POLYOLEFIN WITH GOOD ADHESIVE PROPERTIES
abstract Modified polyolefin having good adhesion to metals and surfaces contg. polar gps. comprises:- (1) 80-99.8 % polyolefin (LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, PP or their copolymers or mixt. of the polymers); (2) 0.01-10 % of an alkoxysilane and (3) 0.01-10 % of a carboxylic acid to improve the adhesion. The alkoxysilane may be added to the polyolefin without grafting or by grafting using free radical generators. Pref. alkoxysilane is vinyl-tri(m)ethoxy-silane; vinyl-tris-(beta methoxyethoxy) silane or gamma-methacryloxy propyl-trimethoxy-silane. The acid comprises a satd. un unsatd. or a polyunsatd. carboxylic acid or one of its derivs. Pref. is caproic, lauric, lauroleic, myristic, stearic, isostearic, oleic, ricinoleic, linolenic, behenylic, erucic, adipic or azelaic acid.
