titleOfInvention | PROCEDURE FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF DINITRILE AND PRODUCTS SO OBTAINED |
abstract | Prepn. of dinitriles of formula NC-CR1R2-CR3R4-CHR5-CN (I) is claimed (where R1 and R2 are H, or (cyclo)aliphatic radical; R3 and R4 are (cyclo)aliphatic radicals and R5 is H or (cyclo)aliphatic or aromatic radical). Process comprises reacting a cpd. of formula (R1)(R2)CH-CN with a cpd. of formula R3R4C=C(R5)CN. The corresp. diamine cpds. (II) in which the CN groups are replaced by -CH2NH2 groups are 2,3,3-trimethyl-pentane dinitrile, 2-ethyl-3,3-dimethyl-pentanedinitrile, 3-(1-cyanocyclohexyl)-3-methyl-butyronitrile and 2,3,7-trimethyl-3-cyanomethyl-6-octenenitrile. Novel diamines (II) above are those with R1-R5 are as above provided when R1=R2=R5 they are not all H and when R3=R4 they cannot both be methyl. The diamines (II) opt. with other diamines are used to prepare polyamides by reaction with aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acids or their salts, esters or chlorides. Process gives the dinitriles in good yields with a high selectivity. The novel polyamides prepd. from the diamines are thermally stable up to 300 degrees C and may be used for lacquers, varnishes and in the prepn. of moulded articles. |
