titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLYACRYLAMIDE COMPOSITIONS THAT READY DISPERSIBLE IN WATER AND PRODUCT OBTAINED
abstract Water dispersable, finely divided polyacrylamide compsn. consists of (I) a finely divided acrylamide polymer which contains >=5 wt.% acrylamide, the rest consisting of a monomer giving a water soluble polymer, has a mol. wt. of >=500,000, and such a particle size that it can pass through a sieve of 6.3 meshes per cm, and (II) 0.1 - 20 esp. 2 - 10 wt.%, based on I, of a water soluble polyalkylene glycol which has a mol. wt. of 200 - 10,000, and is at least partly present as a coating on the particles of I. Specif. I is an acrylamide homopolymer, or a copolymer of acrylamide and sodium acrylate or dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate. II is a polyethylene glycol. II is applied to I in the form of a soln. in methanol. Easily dispersed in water without the formation of agglomerates.
