abstract PURPOSE:A composition for rectal administration that contains a specific cephalosporin derivative, an oil base and a surface active agent, thus having improved absorption from rectum. CONSTITUTION:One of cephalosporin derivatives, which is developed by the present inventor, that is, 7-[D(-)-alpha-(4-ethyl-1-2,3-dioxo-1-piperazinyl carboxamide)- p-hydroxyphenylacetamide]-3-[5-(1-methyl-1-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrazolyl)thiomethyl]-DELTA<3>- cephem-4-carboxylic acid of the formula, or its nontoxic salt is incorporated with a nonionic surface active agent as polyoxyethylene higher alcohol ether, an anionic surface active agent as sulfate ester salt or sulfonate salt and/or bile acid salt to form said composition, which can give high concentration in blood without injection.n[JP55017342A]
