abstract Compounds of the formula:- and their salts, where R is -NHSO2(C1-C4 alkyl), -NH2 or -NO2; R<1> is C1-C4 alkyl; and "Het" is a group of the formula:- where R<2> is H, CH3 or C2H5; R<3> is -NHSO2(C1-C4 alkyl), -NH2 or -NO2; and X is O, S or NR<4> where R<4> is H or CH3; with the proviso that when one of R and R<3> is -NO2, then the other is not -NH2. The compounds of the formula (A) in which both R and R<3> are -NHSO2(C1-C4 alkyl) are antiarrhythmic agents. The reamining compounds of the formula (A) are synthetic intermediates.
