abstract Esters of 2-thenoylmercaptopropionylglycine with substituted hydroxybenzenes, having general formula wherein R is p-acetamidophenyl, p-propyloxy carbophenyl or o-alkyloxycarbophenyl wherein the oxyalkyl radical contains 1-4 carbon atoms, are prepared by reacting 2-thenoylmercaptopropionylglycine with an alkylchloroformate thus obtaining a mixed anhydride which is reacted with the proper substituted hydroxybenzene selected among p-hydroxybenzeneacetamide, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate and alkyl o-hydroxybenzoate. These esters are useful therapeutical agents as mucolytic and antiinflammatory agents.
