abstract | 1502544 Corticosteroid compositions SYNTEX (USA) INC 28 Jan 1976 [21 Feb 1975] 03426]76 Heading A5B Topical pharmaceutical compositions having anti-inflammatory activity comprise a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent or mixture of solvents and at least two corticosteroids each dissolved in said solvent or mixture of solvents at a concentration equal to its saturation concentration in the total composition at a temperature of 20-25‹C, said corticosteroids being chosen from compounds having the following formulae:- wherein R is H or a group of formula:- wherein (i) R1 is F, X and X1 are both Cl and Z is a double bond; (ii) R1 is OH, X and X1 are both Cl and Z is a double bond; (iii) R1 is OH, X is H, X1 is OH and Z is a single bond; and (iv) R1 is OCO.CH 3 , X is H, X1 is OH and Z is a double bond; and:- The preferred solvent is a mixture of a glycol, preferably propylene glycol, and water. The compositions may be made up with suitable other additives into creams ointments or lotions. Other active ingredients, especially antibiotics such as penicillin, tetracycline, chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline, neomycin, gramicidin and ethythromycin, may be present. |
