titleOfInvention Substained-release formulations
abstract Solid pharmaceutical formulations are described which have a sustained release effect and which are buoyant in gastric juice. The formulation is present in the form of a homogeneous mixture. This mixture contains at least one therapeutic active compound, up to 80% by weight of therapeutically inert, pharmaceutically acceptable auxiliary substances, up to 60% by weight of a fatty material having a specific weight less than 1 and such a proportion of a hydrocolloid or of a mixture of hydrocolloids, incorporated into the formulation essentially in the dry form, that, after contact with the gastric juice, a layer which is impermeable to water is generated on the surface of this homogeneous mixture.
