abstract | 1460409 Di- and tri-amino naphthalenes BAYER AG 24 July 1975 [10 Aug 1974 2 Nov 1974] 30989/75 Heading C2C Compounds of the formula wherein R1 is hydrogen or amino, are prepared by treating a compound of the formula where R2 is hydrogen or nitro, with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst and a solvent of the formula wherein R3 is hydrogen, halogen or alkyl; R4 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, amino or mono- or di-alkyl amino; R5 is hydrogen, chlorine, alkyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, amino or mono- or di-alkylamino, and R6 and R7, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen or alkyl or together form a -(CH 2 ) 4 - group optionally substituted by one or more methyl and/or ethyl groups. The catalyst is preferably a metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table. |
