A glass sheet is bent by heating the sheet while supported on its lower edge in an near-vertical disposition, closing dies on to the hot sheet at a bending station, and then tilting the dies to bring the sheet to a vertical position before the dies are opened and the sheet is removed vertically for subsequent annealing or toughening, for example by quenching the hot bent glass sheet in a chilling liquid.n[CA1039950A] |
