abstract | 1463059 Coated flooring material MARLEY TILE CO Ltd 20 Feb 1973 [21 Feb 1973] 8591/73 Heading B2E Surface covering materials, e.g. for floors, walls, shelves and worktops, which have a textured effect are prepared by applying at least one essentially non-foamable resinous composition e.g. polyvinyl chloride to a thickness of at least 0.005 inches to selected areas 2 of a substrate, applying one or more overall layers 3 of a resinous composition, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, containing a blowing agent and foamable throughout over the substrate and resinous compositions thereon and heating to effect foaming throughout the foamable resinous composition. Suitable substrate include plastics films, woven and non woven fabrics, asbestos fibres bonded with synthetic rubber, bonded glass fibres, woven glass fibre fabrics. The substrate may include a polyvinyl chloride backing layer. The non foamable layer may be applied by rotary screen printing. The polyvinyl chloride may be a homopolymer or may include co-monomers such as vinylidene chloride or vinyl acetate and may include fillers, e.g. calcium carbonate and stabilizers, e.g. mixed barium, cadmium and/or zinc salts of fatty acids, e.g. stearic, lauric and ricinoleic acids or dibutyl tin laurate, dibasic lead carbonate and lead stearate. The foamable layers may be coloured, e.g. with titanium white, iron oxide pigment, cadmium red, benzidene yellow, phthalocyanine blue or green. A transparent wear layer may be provided. Printing compositions such as water based acrylic resin emulsions can be used. Each layer may be dried and cooled before application of the next. Polyethylene wear layers may be employed.n[GB1463059A] |
