abstract | 1456269 Pyridyl methyl ureas and intermediates therefor ROHM & HASS CO 13 Feb 1974 [19 March 1973] 6594/74 Heading C2C Novel pyridyl-methyl ureas of the Formula I wherein A is a radical -Z-X, wherein Z is a 1,4-phenylene or a 1,4-naphthylene radical and X is a nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl, -CO-C 1-4 alkyl, mercapto, C 1-6 alkylthio or -SO 2 Y radical, Y being phenyl or -NR 3 R 4 group where R 3 and R 4 are hydrogen atoms or methyl or ethyl groups, are obtained by (1) reacting (3- pyridylmethyl)amine with aryl isocyanates of the formula A-N=C=O, (2) reacting (3-pyridylmethyl)isocyanate with arylamines of the formula A-NH 2 , or (3) reacting C 1-12 alkyl or optionally substituted phenyl - N - (3 - pyridylmethyl)-carbamates or 3-pyridyl methyl urea with arylamines of the formula A-NH 2 . A pesticidal, e.g. rodenticidal composition contains a pyridylmethyl urea of the above formula as active ingredient. 4 - Mercaptophenyl isocyanate and 4 - (tbutylmercapto) phenyl isocyanate are obtained by reacting t-butyl mercaptan with p-chloronitrobenzene to give 4-(t-butylmercapto) nitrobenzene, reducing this to give 4-(t-butylmercapto) aniline and reacting this with phosgene. Phenyl - N - (3 - pyridylmethyl) carbamate is obtained by reacting 3-aminomethyl pyridine with phenyl chloroformate.n[GB1456269A] |
