titleOfInvention Improvements in methods of producing microcapsules
abstract A phenolic cpd. (phenol, e.g. resorcinol or phenolic resin) is added during prepn. of oil filled microcapsules by coacervation of a hydrophilic colloid (gelatin). The phenolic cpd. is pref. added above 8 degrees C after dilution of the emulsion with water. The colloid is coacervated by pH adjustment with a salt, the product cooled and a hardner added (formaldehyde) with a viscosity regulator (carboxymethyl cellulose) The addition of phenolic cpd. gives increased wall thickness and walls which are less porus and more heat resistant. Suitable liquids for encapsulation are chemicals, medicines, perfumes, dyes and catalysts.n[FR2103754A5]
