abstract | 1297555 Penicillin penicillinates BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 4 Aug 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 45027/70 Heading C2A Novel α-aminobenzylpenicillin penicillinates having the Formula (I): wherein X is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group, R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group and may be substituted, and R is a radical of Formula (II), (III) or (IV): wherein Y and Y<SP>1</SP> are the same or different and each is hydrogen, chlorine or fluorine, and Z is C 1 to C 6 alkoxy, are prepared by reacting equimolar quantities of an alkali metal salt of the penicillin which is the anionic moiety of the salt of Formula I and a suitable salt (e.g. the hydrochloride) of the α-aminobenzylpenicillin ester, in a solvent (e.g. water) in which each reactant penicillin salt is soluble but in which the salt of Formula I is insoluble.
