The acid is converted to its acid chloride by reaction with PCl 5 and this, the acid itself or another acylating derivative may be used to prepare 7 - [α - (4 - pyridylthio) acetamido]- cephalosporanic acid from 7-aminocephalosporanic acid.n[GB1331718A]
