titleOfInvention A process for the preparation of trichloromethane thiosulphenyl chloride
abstract 1,256,844. Trichloromethylthio sulphenyl chloride. GLANZSTOFF A.G. 15 May, 1970 [1 July, 1969], No. 23663/70. Heading C2C. [Also in Division Cl] Trichloromethylthio sulphenyl chloride, Cl 3 CS-S-Cl, is prepared by reaction of trichloromethyl sulphenyl chloride with sulphur in the presence of active charcoal. The starting materials and the charcoal should preferably be iron-free. Reaction is advantageously effected in the presence of sulphur chloride, advantageously using a clear solution of sulphur in trichloromethyl sulphenyl chloride and sulphur chloride. The process may be batchwise or continuous. Sulphur chloride and excess trichloromethyl sulphenyl chloride may be recycled. By-products include bis-trichloromethyldisulphide and bis-trichloromethyl trisulphide.n[GB1256844A]
