abstract | 1,265,571. Melt-spinnable polyester composition. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. 7 May, 1969 [14 June, 1968 (3)], No. 23217/69. Heading C3R. [Also in Division D1] A modified polyester reinforcing element for a rubber structure is produced from polyester fibre melt spun from a mixture of a polyester with (a) 0À01 to 2 parts by wt. of an isocyanate (per 100 parts of polyester), (b) 0À1 to 2 parts of a polycarbonate, (c) 0À001 to 0À1 part of a metal complex in which the metal ion has an incompletely satisfied " d " orbital and whose ammonia and amine complexes have a log K stability constant of 5 to 25, or (d) any combinations thereof. The polyester is preferably polyethylene terephthalate, a polyester of terephthalic acid with 1,4-bis-(hydroxymethyl) cyclohexane, a copolyester of ethylene glycol with a mixture of terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid, or a copolyester of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid with sebacic acid, adipic acid or parahydroxy benzoic acid. The isocyanate may be a blocked isocyanate and may be 4,41-diphenylmethane diisocyanate blocked with the reaction product of ethylene glycol, adipic acid and 1,4-butanediol. The polycarbonate may be a polyester derived from a 4,4<SP>1</SP> - dihydroxy - di - (mononucleararyl)- alkane (especially bisphenol A). The metal complex is preferably copper dimethyldithiocarbamate.n[GB1265571A] |
