titleOfInvention Phosphoric acid esters
abstract 1,250,916. Phosphorus esters containing haloaryl groups, halophenol. CIBA-GEIGY A.G. 11 Dec., 1968 [11 Dec., 1967], No. 58934/68. Headings C2C and C2P Novel phosphorus-containing esters of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are C 1 -C 4 alkyl groups and X is O or S are obtained by reacting a compound (B i O)(R a O)P(X)Hal, wherein Hal is halogen with 2,4-dibromo-5-chlorophenol, preferably in the presence of an acid binding agent, e.g. an alkali metal carbonate, and if desired in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. copper powder, or, when X is 0, the products may also be obtained by reacting an 0,0-dialkyl phosphite with 2,4 - dibromo - 5 - chloro - phenol in the presence of a tertiary amine. The products have pesticidal properties and may be used in admixture with a suitable diluent or carrier. They are active against ectoparasites of farm animals including poultry. 2,4 - Dibromo - 5 - chlorophenol is obtained by bromination of 3-chloro-phenol in glacial acetic acid at 40-50 C.n[GB1250916A]
