titleOfInvention | Water-soluble salts of ampicillin |
abstract | Method for water-soluble salts (I) of D(-)-alpha-aminobenzyl penicillins (II), wherein II (as hydrate or anhydrous form) are suspended in a suitable solvent (e.g. EtOH, DMF, or pref. CH2Cl2), and a primary (III), sec. (IV), or cyclic (V) amine is added until the penicillin goes into solution. This requires 3-4 mols III, 1.16 mol IV or 2.47-5.0 mols. V/mol hydrated II. The solution is dried e.G. with CaCl2 or Na2SO4, and filtered at 8-12 deg., and may be freeze-dried or evapd. in vac. to give the amine salt of II, or treated with an alkali salt, e.g. NaOMe, KI, NaSCN, or a carboxylate in order to precipitate the alkali metal salt. Exact conditions depend on the cpd. being prepared. Broad spectrum antibiotics.n[CH535787A] |
