[Also in Division C3] Adhesive (polymerizable) compositions for use in bonding together pairs of surfaces of various materials comprise at least one monomeric ester of 2-cyanoacrylic acid (e.g. the methyl ester) and at least one heterocyclic compound of any of the following formul wherein each R, R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP>, which may be the same or different, represents an ethylenically unsaturated aliphatic residue or each of R and R<SP>2</SP> may be, alternatively, the group or a maximum of one R or R<SP>1</SP> and two R<SP>2</SP>s in a single compound may be, alternatively, hydrogen. The compositions may also contain stabilizers, e.g. sultones (such as propane sultone) and p-t-butylcatechol, viscosity regulators, bond plasticizers and preservatives. Surfaces which may be bonded may be like or different pairs selected from wood, pottery, ceramics, glass, metals and synthetic resins. Combinations specified are wood-wood, mild steel-mild steel and mild steel-enamelled mild steel.n[GB1230560A]
